Beau Slocumb Racing
Beau Slocumb drove the #32 Wolf Pack Rentals Toyota to a 5th place finish Thursday night at Kansas Speedway...his first top-five in the ARCA Remax Series!! Beau posted some great times during practice and was 2nd fastest out of the forty cars on hand for the Kansas Lottery 150. The Kansas City area had been plagued by bad weather on Thursday morning and practice was delayed so the ARCA officials had already made the decision to cancel qualifying and allow the drivers ample time for practice. This meant that Beau would begin the race in the 4th position since they set the starting grid according to owner’s points.
When the green flag dropped, Beau charged ahead and within 8 laps, he was running in the 2nd position behind Parker Kligerman. Beau held that position for about 25 laps and then his car started to have handling issues. He was not able to hold it down on the bottom of the track in the turns and a handful of cars were able to get by. When a caution came out near the midpoint of the race, Beau was finally able to make a pit stop and take on fresh tires and fuel. The crew discovered that one of his tires had “equalized”, meaning that the air presssure in the inner tube and that of the tire had become the same PSI...which makes for a very ill-handling car.
Beau restarted in 12th place and moved up a few spots to 10th before the final caution with about 8 laps to go. A few cars in front of Beau made the decision to pit while he kept the #32 Wolf Pack Rentals Toyota on the track to restart in the 6th spot for a green-white-checker finish. The two lap shoot-out allowed Beau enough time to pass one more car and finish in the 5th spot for his first top-five out of the four races he has run in the ARCA Remax Series!
Beau is so thankful to Steve Turner, Kevin Cywinski and Nate Thiesse for allowing him the opportunity to jump behind the wheel of these Win-Tron Racing cars over the past four races. They took a chance on Beau and his lack of experience in the ARCA series and on larger race tracks and gave him an opportunity to show what he could do!
Beau’s next race will most likely be the World Crown 300 at the new Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, GA on November 15th. He will be bringing out his own #08 Late Model for this race and we hope to see lots of familiar faces in the stands to cheer Beau on to Victory Lane!
Thanks for keeping up with Beau over this past year with its many ups and downs!! We’ll see you at the track!
